RSU Announces Cross Country Schedule

Rogers State Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Head Coach Matt Kennedy announced the 2022 schedule on Thursday.

“I am really excited about this upcoming season,” said Kennedy. “We have quality competitions scheduled that should allow for meaningful head-to-head competition against regional and national opponents. Our women return everyone from the 2021 team and are coming off an exceptional outdoor track season. We’ve added a couple of impactful transfers that should bolster the team’s depth and experience. I expect that the women will take another dramatic step this season toward being postseason contenders. Similarly, the men’s team will benefit from experience and being another year more mature. I am most certainly excited about the talented incoming freshmen. However, I cannot overlook the growth and development the returners displayed throughout the indoor & outdoor track season. I feel like the men took big steps in the right direction related to their training, both physically and intellectually.”

The men will compete in five regular season meets while the women will compete in six. The Hillcats will kick off the season as they host the RSU Invitational on Sept. 1 in Tulsa, Okla. at the Mohawk Sports Complex. They will travel to Joplin, Mo. on Sept. 17 to compete in the Southern Stampede. The women will split the squad on Sept. 30 as one group competes in the Gans Creek Invitational in Columbia, Mo. while the other group travels with the men to compete in the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. Both teams will be split between two meets on Oct. 15 to close out the regular season with one group traveling to Grand Prairie, Texas to compete in the DBU Old Glory Gallup with the other group traveling to Edmond, Okla. to compete in the UCO Invitational.

The MIAA Championships are scheduled for Nov. 5 in Jefferson City, Mo. The NCAA Division II Central Region Championships are slated for Nov. 19 in Joplin, Mo.
