RoCo Fit Kicks Off Fall Session of Couch to 5K Program

RoCo Fit (Rogers County Fitness Training Program) – in collaboration with the Rogers County Health Department – will soon kick off the fall session of its free couch-to-5K group training program. Founded in 2010, RoCo Fit is a not-for-profit fitness collective dedicated to helping Rogers County residents become healthier.

Fall training sessions for RoCo Fit are suitable for any fitness level and will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week beginning Aug. 23 at Claremore Lake Park, located at E. Blue Starr Dr. in Claremore. The program is free and open to anyone 13 years old or older who lives, works, plays or learns in Rogers County.

Training with RoCo Fit offers health benefits such as maintaining or losing weight, reducing stress, lowering cholesterol, reducing risk for heart disease or diabetes and relieving arthritis pain, as well as just enjoying the outdoors and meeting new people.

“The program has been developed over time and properly helps participants at any fitness level become well equipped to conquer a 5K,” said Chrissy Swift, health educator at the Rogers County Health Department. “With a group of dedicated, fun, knowledgeable mentors encouraging participants, as well as community partnerships, RoCo Fit aims to improve the health of Rogers County one step at a time.”

Registration forms are available to download online. In-person registration will also be available at the first few workouts. For more information about RoCo Fit, visit rocofit.org.
