CARL’S CONEY ISLAND

Located in NeMar Center on Will Rogers Boulevard, Carl’s Coney Island has been serving coneys, tamales, and chili since 1974. Open Monday – Friday, 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

DOE’S EAT PLACE

In the mood for a high-end steak with a low-key atmosphere? Try Doe’s Eat Place, located in downtown Claremore in the historic Will Rogers Hotel. While technically a chain, Doe’s is locally owned and operated, and offers an extensive menu with plenty of steak options. The tamales and chili have been staples since the original Doe’s opened in 1941. Offering the “Best Steak in America,” Doe’s has a casual atmosphere with a full bar and private banquet room. Open for dinner only. Closed Sundays.

DOT’S CAFE

For a fast, casual lunch downtown, try Dot’s Café, Claremore’s oldest cafe. Dot’s has only a few tables, but you can usually snag a stool at the bar. Family-owned, Dot’s serves a traditional breakfast all day, plus lunch until 2 p.m. Dinner is served on Thursdays until 8 p.m. From the Kids Kitty Chicken to the biscuits and gravy, Dot’s Southern home cooking can’t be beat. Closed Sundays.

HAMMETT HOUSE

Located near Will Rogers Memorial and Rogers State University, Hammett House has been serving Claremore since 1969, when the Hammett family opened it. In 1991, it was purchased by Linda and Bill Biard, who still operate the landmark restaurant today. The Biards still serve all of the staples that put Hammett House on the map, like the pamper-fried chicken, lamb and turkey fries, and LaNelle Hammett’s signature “Skinny Soup.” The restaurant offers a daily lunch special and, thanks to two Biard sons who are renowned chefs cooking all over the world, the menu is constantly being expanded with new dishes. Did we mention that Hammett House is home to the 10-pound pie? Daily offerings include German chocolate, buttermilk chess, sour cream raisin, and peanut butter chocolate chip. Whole pies are available for purchase. Closed Mondays.

J FARLEY’S

For American classics with an Irish twist, try local pub J Farley’s. Opened in 2018 to honor fallen Claremore firefighter Jason Farley, J Farley’s is co-owned by a 25-year veteran of the Claremore Fire Department. The menu includes popular items like the F-Train burger (a nod to Captain Farley’s nickname), which features jalapeños, grilled onions, pepper jack cheese, and strawberry habanero cream cheese. If you’re in the mood for a dish from “across the pond,” try the bangers and mash, chicken and cabbage, or shepherd’s pie. The pub is a popular neighborhood watering hole, with a patio and a full bar.

MAIN STREET TAVERN

Claremore is the second location for Main Street Tavern, which originated in Broken Arrow. MST offers a full bar as well as weekend brunch, lunch, and dinner. Home to Claremore’s largest outdoor patio, MST is a popular hangout with the local crowd. Popular menu items include fish & chips, meatloaf sliders, and the Big Frank burger. A private dining room and catering options are available. Main Street Tavern is conveniently located in historic downtown Claremore.

RON’S HAMBURGERS AND CHILI

Ron’s Hamburgers and Chili is always a good lunch stop if you’re in the mood for a traditional burger, fries and/or chili. The chicken is delicious, too, but you must try the cheese fries.
