Claremore Economic Development, in partnership with Rogers County and Northeast Tech, announced the second iteration of its Technical Training Scholarship, allowing residents to complete an approved technical program at no cost.
Due to the resounding success and execution of the program’s pilot year, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce awarded $110,000 for a second funding cycle. The new scholarship period will run from June 2024 to June 2025, expanding to offer a greater diversity of program options, including Healthcare, Manufacturing, Education, Information Technology, Education, Trades, and Business to fill current and future workforce skills gaps that have been identified within Rogers County.
To date, 107 scholarships have been awarded for participants to gain valuable career skill training to meet the job needs of our healthcare, manufacturing, and education sectors. At the end of the first program, 58.87 percent of recipients saw an increase in educational attainment, and 100 percent saw an increase in employability and workforce readiness.
“This new phase will see the program expanding its training options and increasing funding eligibility, demonstrating our commitment to serving a larger population,” said Caitlyn Ngare, Talent Development for Claremore Economic Development. “We remain dedicated to supporting local residents to enhance their knowledge and skills, enabling them to open new doors or advance along their career path.”
Applications are now open and will be available until reserves are exhausted. Applicants must currently reside in Rogers County and have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic (examples include, increased household expenses, illness, caring for someone who was ill, loss of time or income from work, and remote schooling). Those within low-to-moderate income households will be given priority acceptance. However, Rogers County residents of any income level are encouraged to apply!
