Murder Mystery Theater Benefitting American Red Cross

March 8, 2014 @ 7:00 pm
$10
“And I Can Assure You…!”

On Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th, a very talent cast of local actors/actresses will take the stage of the historic Will Rogers Auditorium on the Claremore campus of Rogers State University to perform the murder mystery, “Every Vote Counts”.  An event where the audience are provided the opportunity to use their detective skills and try and solve who did it and why.
It’s the 1950’s and the setting for local playwright Mark Ogle’s newest murder mystery, “Every Vote Counts”, is the mansion of Walter Smithson, where later in the evening he is going to make the announcement that he is throwing his hat into the ring as candidate for Governor.  Mr. Smithson, a very successful businessman and one of the richest, most powerful men in the State has decided it’s time to step forward and serve his State.  He feels that no one can ever have too much power or money.  Besides he thinks he can make a real difference.  That what his State needs are real businessmen, not career politicians.  But when one enters politics one’s past skeletons that have been kept successfully hidden have the potential to come to light.  What are his and how will they impact his run for office?  Some even say that politics can be downright murder!
Directing the production is veteran community theatre director Dan Huey.  The audience will recognize many cast members from past productions, including a few new ones.
“It’s hard to believe, but we have been performing these murder mystery fundraisers regularly since 1998 for very worthwhile causes, like college scholarships, foster children and now the American Red Cross.  I really appreciate the loyal following we have gotten over the years,” said Mark Ogle.  “I invite everyone to come out and enjoy the performance of this very talented cast and support this very worthy cause.”
Each audience member will have an opportunity to use their deductive skills to try and solve who did it and why.  They will be vying to be named the evening’s “Super Sleuth Award” winner and reaping all of the benefits that come with the title.
Doors open each night at 6:00 p.m. with shows starting at 7:00 p.m..  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.  All tickets will be purchased at the door.  Proceeds from the event go to the American Red Cross to help those who suffer a disaster, like a home fire.  Co-sponsoring the event are Rogers State University and the Rotary Club of Claremore.  For more information, please call (918) 344-8442.
