NTC Offers Several Options for Adult Students: Claremore and Pryor

cameraLearning is a lifelong journey. Whether you want to propel your career,  recertify in your current field or simply discover new hobbies, Northeast Technology Center’s Adult Education Program can help you. The Claremore NTC Campus, located at 1901 N. Highway 88, offers a variety of classes to blend study with work or family life.
NTC serves a number of needs for continuing education and licensing,” said Troy Steidley, Adult Education Director for NTC’s Claremore and Pryor Campuses. “Our adult students appreciate the low-cost classes, convenient class times and variety of course offerings – we try to make sure we provide a little something for every interest.”

“People are busy, and we understand that,” said Steidley. “We don’t want to leave anyone out, so we run many of our classes multiple times in the same semester, some with more traditional start dates in January or February and others with more flexible start dates later in the spring.”

guitarIn addition to a flexible schedule, the Adult Education staff works with its instructors to provide the classes at the lowest possible prices to the community. Senior citizens and veterans are eligible for a 25% tuition discount. Available classes range from nursing and music classes to photography and computer classes to basic hobbies and exercise classes.

NTC knows those in the medical field work demanding schedules, but that shouldn’t stop them from advancing their careers. Evening classes in the nursing field still accepting enrollment for this semester include TABE Testing, Nursing Concepts, Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and Certified Nurse Aide (CNA).

The Roy Clark Music School also makes its home on NTC’s Claremore Campus and there are still three opportunities to expand your musical horizons this spring. Music classes still accepting enrollment for this semester include Bluegrass Jam, Inside the Music Biz and Fiddling with Flair (taught by Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame inductee Jana Jae).

If you have no aspirations of becoming a nurse and aren’t particularly fond of music, don’t worry, NTC still has something for you! A sample of some current adult education classes offered at the Claremore Campus include:

  • Healthy Meals on a Budget
  • Basic Photography
  • Intermediate Digital Photography
  • Furniture Upholstery
  • Creative Writing/Short Story
  • Dog Obedience
  • Advanced Dog Obedience
  • Yoga
  • MS Word 2010 Advanced Level 3
  • MS Excel 2010 Level 3

Additionally, there are several more courses offered at NTC’s Pryor Campus (located on Highway 20 between Claremore and Pryor), Kansas Campus and Afton Campus. For a complete list of those classes, please view the Adult Education Catalog online at http://www.netech.edu/pages/uploaded_files/Adult%20Ed%20Catalog%20Spring%202015%20-%20web%20version2.pdf or drop into your favorite campus or call (918) 342-8066 to request a paper catalog.

“There truly is something for everyone and we are here to help students enroll over the phone or in person at a campus,” said Steidley. “But class space is limited and enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we encourage you to enroll early.”
