Claremore Area Volunteers Needed for Young Readers

The Rogers County Literacy Council is ready for another season of their RoCo Readers program. Area volunteers are matched with a student in 1st – 3rd grade at a local school. They meet for 30 minutes each week at the school, and the Reader simply reads to the child and does some easy tutoring. Simple enough, right?

They are on the hunt for at least 10 more tutors. Schools involved in the program are Inola, Justus-Tiawah, Catalayah, Roosa, and Westside.

Readers are asked to attend a training workshop on Saturday, August 25. A background check is required, as well as a $35 registration fee, which covers the cost of the workshop.

This is a great program that can really help a lot of kids, so if you’re interested, please reach out ASAP to program coordinator Ashley Cook at 918-845-8779 or rocoreaders@gmail.com.

RoCo Readers is funded by a grant from Believe in Reading.
