Claremore man Brady Wells has struggled with heart issues since birth. Staying in the hospital as a newborn for 84 days, he was diagnosed with aortic stenosis, mitral valve prolapse, cardiomyopathy and other complications. He spent several years on medication before being given a clean bill of health.
In 2002, he was cleared to focus on his first love, baseball! He played throughout his childhood and for the Claremore Zebras in high school. In June 2009, Brady was given some bad news: he needed a heart transplant. That November, Brady became a walking miracle when he received the gift of a new heart.
This August, Brady went in for a routine appointment and was told that the donor heart, which has served him for 10 years, isn’t working anymore. He needs another heart transplant, and time is of the essence.
Currently, 25-year-old Brady is not medically well enough to work. He and his wife, Shay, are constantly traveling to Oklahoma City for appointments. With Brady unable to work and Shay a full-time student, financial resources are tapped out.
