City of Claremore officials to discuss encouraging use of face masks to halt spread of COVID-19
Officials with the City of Claremore will discuss recommendations for residents to wear face masks in public places to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
The City Council will discuss passing a resolution urging residents to wear face coverings – whether that be face masks, bandanas or other material that covers the nose and mouth. This is not a citywide mandate or resolution to wear masks, but a recommendation based on best practices for health from leading experts.
“COVID-19 is a very serious illness, and we need to try to stop the spread in our community. Experts, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, recommend facial coverings,” said Claremore Mayor Bill Flanagan.
The City is also suggesting that residents maintain social distancing, which means keeping at least a 6-foot minimum distance from other individuals outside of your household when located within all public areas in the City limits of Claremore.
The resolution will be discussed during the upcoming City Council meeting, to be held on Monday, July 20.
