As COVID-19 numbers continue to increase across the state, Claremore has moved from the low to moderate risk level based on State guidelines. Due to the increased risk of community spread, the City of Claremore will reinstitute several modified precautionary measures at City facilities, effective Monday, July 27.
“Chief Sean Douglas has been vigilant in monitoring the public health situation within Rogers County and the City of Claremore,” said John Feary, acting Claremore City Manager. “By proactively reinstituting some of these measures, we are protecting the health and safety of our employees and our residents. These measures impact City facilities and are not a mandate on local businesses.”
The following changes and precautions will be implemented at City of Claremore facilities:
- Public lobbies within Claremore City facilities will be closed. The City encourages residents to handle all necessary business with the City online, through email or telephone. In cases that require an in-person meeting, both the customer and the employee will be required to wear a mask unless valid health conditions prevent the parties from doing so.
- A face mask requirement will accompany the current limited occupancy policy at the Will Rogers Library.Social distancing standards will be reinstituted at the Claremore Recreation Center and necessary adjustments will be made to the equipment spacing. Tennis and pickleball courts will remain open with increased sanitization efforts.
- The athletic facilities at the Community Center will follow social distancing guidelines and determinations on upcoming youth camps will be made soon.
- The Senior Center will remain closed and continue to allow drive thru meal pick-up only.At the EXPO, the exhibit hall lobby to the public will be closed. At this time, scheduled events have not been cancelled.
“We want residents and customers to know that the City is being proactive, responsible and responsive. Our main objective is to keep people safe, while also maintaining our local economy and supporting businesses. We will continue to closely monitor the situation,” said Feary.
