RoCo Fit recently won a 2019 Champion of Health award at the Oklahoma Turning Point Conference. The free couch to 5k fitness program was nominated by Healthy Community Partnership of Rogers County. RoCo Fit Coordinator, Renetta Harrison along with Advisory League members Jenny Allen and Renie Doherty accepted the award at the OKC Turning Point luncheon on August 21st.

The community led program is coming up on its 10th year in Rogers County in the spring of 2020. RoCo Fit averages 100 participants each workout at Claremore Lake every spring and fall. Anyone 13 years or older who work, play, or live in or near Rogers County and want to walk or run in fun groups with like fitness levels are welcome. Participant goals vary from getting off the couch, making friends, losing weight, or reducing stress to finishing a 5k or farther. There is a group for everyone wanting to get healthier.

Oklahoma Turning Point recognizes only five programs across the state each year as Champions of Health. 2019 winners are RoCo Fit of Rogers County, Youth Empowered to Succeed (YES), Open Street Tahlequah, Pervasive Parenting Resource Center, and Project Thunderbird.

“RoCo Fit wants to thank Mendy Stone and the Healthy Community Partnership for their nomination and continued support. We are proud to be a part of their many wonderful community programs.” said Renetta Harrison
